Breast Augmentation
For a woman who feels that her breasts are too small for her body type or a woman whose breasts have lost volume after pregnancy, breast augmentation surgery offers a solution. By adding a saline- or silicone-filled implant beneath the breast tissue or the muscle of the chest, this procedure can make breasts larger, improve shape and symmetry, and add fullness. Dr. Waters has the skill and experience to achieve natural-looking results for her breast augmentation patients.
The first step to a successful breast enhancement procedure is a well-informed patient. Dr. Waters spends a good deal of time discussing the surgery and its benefits, risks, and requirements with each patient prior to the procedure. Women who understand the risks and benefits of breast augmentation surgery and have reasonable expectations about the results are much more likely to be satisfied with their new appearance.
Dr. Waters has been a FDA investigator for silicone gel breast implants since 1992 and is excited about the upcoming "gummy bear" anatomical implant and the current release of round gel implants by the FDA.
If you are considering breast augmentation and have questions about breast enhancement techniques or implants, contact Dr. Waters' Palo Alto plastic surgery practice, also serving San Jose and all of the Bay Area.
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

When the effects of time or pregnancy cause breasts to sag, a breast lift can improve the shape and position of the breasts. By removing excess skin from beneath the breast and relocating the nipple to a higher position, the breasts can be restored to a more youthful position and contour. If decreased volume is also a problem, a breast augmentation can be combined with this procedure for a fuller, more rounded result.
Breast Reduction
Breast reduction is designed to alleviate the discomfort of large, heavy breasts and associated neck and back pain, as well as skin rashes beneath the breasts. The procedure involves removing excess glandular tissue, fat, and skin, thereby decreasing the size and weight of the breasts. Nipple position is raised to a more youthful location. Unlike breast augmentation, breast reduction may be covered by most health insurance plans.
